Streets
Vancouver Street Photography Collective members tend to be wanderers. When we travel away from home, we document with our cameras, collecting images along with memories. What about when we’re home, though? In Streets, our eighth zine, we visit the places in Metro Vancouver that inspire our street photography, the places which serve both as comfort zones and as sources of inspiration.

Urban Stories
One of the most appealing things about street photography is the permission it gives to go out in the world to wander, observe and photograph. It’s open-ended, there’s an expansiveness to it. Street photographers develop a sharpened sense of seeing, finding expressive moments in familiar places. Eventually patterns emerge: one photographer is drawn to photograph the faces of crowds at crosswalks, another photographs windows, explores an illusionary city of near and far condensed into one plane. What’s truly interesting is how powerfully an individual photographer’s images can work together in a series to reveal a particular point of view. It’s also fascinating how many different stories can be found in the same location. In this zine, we feature 26 personal projects. They are contemplative and dramatic, humorous and evocative, they feature balloons, dancers, dogs, and diners as well as strangers on buses, shadows and light. They are stories of Vancouver, told with words and images. We hope you enjoy this, our latest zine.

We would like to introduce you to our very first Magazine, showcasing some of the many talented members of the Vancouver Street Photography Collective. The VANSPC started in 2019 with a small group of photographers with a shared interest in street photography. In the past year, we have grown to over 30 members, have had both gallery and virtual exhibitions, and created a website. This is our latest effort to showcase the work of our members and celebrate street photography in Vancouver.
