Special Events During the Exhibition:

Opening Night Reception

December 3rd // 6:30pm to 10:00pm

You often hear street photographers speak of being active observers, anticipating the moment and feeling rhythm of the street as they engage with and document their environment. These moments, this rhythm or energy, is what we hope to capture in the images we make.

For ‘Streets, Seen’, VanSPC’s second gallery exhibition, 35 members combine their individual but harmonizing visions of the street.

Prints will be for sale from some of our exhibiting members.

Streets, Walk: Commercial Drive Photo Walk & Photo Chat with Dionysios Psychas

December 4th // 10:00am

We will explore the alleys behind Commercial Dr and The Drive itself. We will find nicely messy spaces and a hodgepodge of things in the alleys, intriguingly dated or chic storefronts on the street, and all the fascinating people in between going about their boring or surreal lives.

We will start at Alternatives Gallery, walk down the west alley to William St, across, up the east alley to Parker St, then down The Drive to William St again, across, then up The Drive again to Venables St, and end our walk back at the gallery.

Then we will take a 1/2 hour break to set up our photos for our Photo Chat. During the break, you can go have lunch or pick up lunch and have it in the Alternatives Gallery Studio.

During our Photo Chat, we will share photos from our walk and discuss them. Photogs can show us a couple of their images on the big screen, tell us about why the subject interested them, what they like about the image, and what they would like to do with it.
