Our Zines
Our street photography zines showcase the unfiltered essence of city life captured through the lenses of our diverse collective of photographers. Each zine is a carefully curated collection of moments frozen in time, offering a glimpse into the soul of the streets. From urban landscapes to intimate portraits of everyday people, our zines aim to evoke emotions and provoke thought. Through this medium, we strive to document the beauty, chaos, and humanity that define the vibrant tapestry of life on the streets.
Zine #1
We would like to introduce you to our very first Magazine showcasing some of the many talented members of the Vancouver Street Photography Collective. The VANSPC started in 2019 with a small group of photographers with a shared interest in street photography. In the past year, we have grown to over 30 members, have had both gallery and virtual exhibitions, and created a website. This is our latest effort to showcase the work of our members and celebrate street photography in Vancouver
Zine #2: Film
VanSPC's 2nd Zine celebrates street photography shot on film, offering a unique tactile experience absent in digital. Members find various inspirations in film, from nostalgia to experimentation, appreciating its magical qualities and imperfections for evocative images. Discover the shared love for analogue photography through this curated selection.
Zine #3
A curated collection presenting a wide range of visual stories captured by skilled photographers affiliated with the Vancouver Street Photography collective.
Zine #4: Chinatown
In this photographic magazine, we aim to celebrate Vancouver's Chinatown in all its complexity and beauty; reflect on what was, record what is now and provide a hopeful message for the future.
Zine #5: Street Photography as Performance
Street photography captures the dynamic between photographer, camera, and surroundings. Each image reflects a performance of exploring and documenting encounters with people, light, and emotions. VanSPC's fifth magazine showcases diverse approaches to street photography, ranging from documentary to abstract styles, all influenced by the street's essence of color, light, and expression.

Urban Stories: Images and Text
One of the most appealing things about street photography is the permission it gives to go out in the world to wander, observe and photograph. It’s open-ended, there’s an expansiveness to it. Street photographers develop a sharpened sense of seeing, finding expressive moments in familiar places. Eventually patterns emerge: one photographer is drawn to photograph the faces of crowds at crosswalks, another photographs windows, explores an illusionary city of near and far condensed into one plane. What’s truly interesting is how powerfully an individual photographer’s images can work together in a series to reveal a particular point of view. It’s also fascinating how many different stories can be found in the same location. In this zine, we feature 26 personal projects. They are contemplative and dramatic, humorous and evocative, they feature balloons, dancers, dogs, and diners as well as strangers on buses, shadows and light. They are stories of Vancouver, told with words and images. We hope you enjoy this, our latest zine.
