Exhibition Statement
Defining street photography can be a controversial topic. However, one widely accepted tenet is that street photography captures everyday life in public places. With potential styles ranging from esoteric to mundane, realistic to abstract, each image is a snapshot of our vibrant streets. To creatively capture these unique moments, photographers should do more than just record events. They need to be present, observing, questioning, and adapting to the unpredictability of street life. The act of searching for photographic opportunities connects the photographer to the world, giving a sense of belonging and of being tightly integrated with the people and places around them. VanSPC’s 2024 exhibition, Connections, showcases the essence of human interaction through the photographer’s lens. Join us and see how each photographer’s unique style expresses how they see the world and connect with it.
