MARCH 2026: MOUNT PLEASANT WALK
Mount Pleasant has long been a place of transition and reinvention. Once shaped by working-class families, small manufacturers, and early industry along the False Creek flats, the neighbourhood grew through the early 20th century as one of Vancouver’s first streetcar suburbs, marked by modest homes, corner shops, and a strong sense of local identity. Over the decades, waves of artists, makers, and independent businesses brought new energy to the area, transforming former warehouses into studios and creative spaces. This photowalk invited us to look closely at a neighbourhood layered with history, to observe the visible traces of its past, and to reflect on how growth and gentrification continue to redefine the character of the community.
