FLEETING MOMENTS OPENS IN STYLE
Fleeting Moments, 2026’s iteration of VanSPC’s annual street photo exhibition, officially opened with a reception that brought together photographers, collectors, and street photography enthusiasts for an evening dedicated to celebrating the unplanned instant. The exhibition itself explores the quiet poetry of everyday life, from a stranger's fleeting glance to the choreography of a crowded intersection, and the opening night reflected that same spirit of spontaneity and connection.
Guests filled the gallery, moving between prints and striking up conversations about the moments that stopped them in their tracks, while artists mingled with admirers and longtime supporters caught up with new faces.

Special Interest Groups (SIGs)
Special Interest Groups (SIGs) are small, member-led groups within VanSPC focused on specific aspects of photography and photographic practice. These groups provide space for learning, discussion, and hands-on exploration around shared interests, allowing members to go deeper into the craft together.
From long-standing groups like the Photo Book Club to newer initiatives such as the Print Club and our online Show n’ Tell, SIGs reflect the evolving interests of the collective. Each group meets independently and contributes to the broader culture of learning, inspiration, and thoughtful engagement that defines VanSPC.

Fleeting Moments Street Photography Exhibition
Our annual street photography exhibition, this year called, Fleeting Moments, will be held from Wednesday, September 16 to Sunday, September 27 at The Gallery George (140 West Hastings Street).
This exhibition offers an opportunity to explore the diverse approaches and perspectives of our collective, bringing together a wide range of photographic visions in one space.

Photowalk
VanSPC invites you to join a street photography walk through Vancouver's Gastown, held in association with our Fleeting Moments exhibit. Whether you're just starting out or looking to sharpen your skills, this walk offers a welcoming introduction to shooting on the street. Together we'll chase candid moments and explore how light, shadow, and composition come together in the everyday. All levels are welcome, just bring your camera and a curious eye.
ZINE 10
VanSPC's 10th zine is on its way, bringing together twenty-nine photographers, each finding their own story on the street. Some will catch quiet, still moments: a gesture, a shoulder turned away. Others will chase colour and motion, like the glow of a neon sign outside a nightclub. No two eyes see the same block the same way, and that's the point. This zine will be a collection of everyday scenes, framed twenty-nine different ways, each shaped by the person who saw it.

August 2026 Photowalk
Gastown
There’s something special about photographing Gastown as the day begins to fade. The changing light, busy streets, and mix of people, architecture, and unexpected moments gave VanSPC photographers plenty to explore and interpret in their own way.

June 2026 Italian Day Photowalk
Commercial Drive has been the heart of Vancouver's "Little Italy" since Italian immigrant families settled the area in the 1940s and 50s, filling the street with cafés, delis, and bakeries that shaped its identity for generations. Italian Day itself dates back to 2010, when the Italian Day Festival Society revived the tradition, and it's now held annually on the second Sunday of June, transforming Commercial Drive into a lively celebration of music, food, and community spirit.
In June, VanSPC members hit the streets to capture the energy of Italian Day. From the crowded sidewalks to the vibrant street life, our photographers set out to document the sights, sounds, and spirit of one of Vancouver's most beloved annual celebrations. The result is a collection of candid, unscripted moments that reflect the unique perspectives each member brought to the day.
