The image of the iconic "Vancity" cross by Ken Lum was taken in a snow storm a few years ago, This image was re-edited specifically for this exhibition with additional care taken to highlight the smallest details like the snow swirling through the cross. The conditions were quite challenging on the day but worth the result. My personal connection to the neighbourhood runs deep, my uncle's tailor shop "Angelos' has sat on Commercial Drive since the early 1960's and the first house I lived in was just off "The Drive" at East 6th Ave. & Semlin, where I was brought back from Grace Hospital in 1973.
