Part of the "Torn" Series. Torn explores distance, loss and the separation between the viewer and the people we encounter in the city. The layers of torn paper, grime, graffiti and other overlooked traces of the street act as a barrier between us and figures we can see but cannot reach. Like looking through a steamed or dirty window, these surfaces obscure and distort our view, while also becoming part of what we are looking at. Through double exposure, the barrier becomes a way of suggesting the things and people we have lost, or can no longer reach.
